An activity in a CRM is a piece of work done or planned in relation to a customer, lead, deal or support case. The most common types are tasks, phone calls, meetings and emails.
Why it matters
Activities tell the “story” of a record: when was the customer last called, who promised what, what is the next step? Without dated activities with a clear owner, quote follow-up and customer relationships live only in people’s memories.
A good activity record
- Is linked to a record (e.g. a deal or customer),
- Has an owner and a date,
- Carries a short outcome note when completed.
In CRModular
Activities can be linked to accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities, cases, quotes, orders and contracts; tasks, calls, meetings and emails appear in the calendar and in the record’s history. See How to follow up on sales quotes for using activities in quote follow-up.
