Price Book

A price book holds the selling prices and discount limits of products for a specific customer group or period.

A price book holds the selling prices of products for a specific customer group, channel or period. The same product can be sold at one price in the Standard price book and at another in the Dealer price book.

Why it matters

When the quote price is a number typed by the rep, inconsistency and margin loss are inevitable. The price book sets the starting price of the quote, while maximum discount and quantity limits frame the negotiation.

Typical contents

  • List price and currency per product,
  • Minimum / maximum order quantity,
  • The maximum discount a rep can give,
  • Quantity-based tiered prices.

In CRModular

You can define several price books; line prices on quotes and opportunities come from the selected price book, and a line exceeding the allowed discount is not saved. For examples see Dealer price list management; for the related term see CPQ.
