Opportunity (Sales Opportunity)

An opportunity is a potential sale with a qualified customer, with a known amount and expected close date.

An opportunity is a potential sale with a qualified customer, with an amount, a stage and an expected close date. A lead becomes an opportunity once it is qualified.

Key fields

  • Customer (account) and contact
  • Amount and currency
  • Stage and its win probability (see sales pipeline)
  • Expected close date
  • Win or loss reason

Why it matters

Opportunities are the basis of revenue forecasts and quota attainment. Recording loss reasons consistently reveals recurring issues such as price, competitors or product fit.

In CRModular

You can add product lines to an opportunity, and its amount is calculated from them. When you create a quote from the opportunity, the lines are carried over.
